Went hunting today with Donnie, Ray, and Derek. Had some other guys that came up from Georgetown hunting with us on the other side of the river so we were pushing the pigs to each other. Was the second hunt for my two puppies, and the first for my 2 year old pit (he has caught two small pigs, but hasn't been in the woods).
After being there for an hour and a half and calling some young dogs off of a deer, we got on a good little group. We were walking the river and the dogs were about 100 yards ahead of us, all of a sudden heard all of the dogs let off a bark or two and then heard them catch a pig. Right then two shoats and a good sized boar run out in front of us trying to get away. Go to the bay and see that my pit, two puppies, another puppy (littermates with my two pups), and an older pup are all caught on a little 30lb pig. So I leave them and go to the other bay about 40yds away and the rest of the dogs and a few of the pups are caught on a decent sized sow.
After we kill the sow and get all the dogs rounded up, we try to roll out on the track of the boar and the two shoats that ran. Get my pups dad, Bo, on it with a rcd sticking right with him. They cross the river and are showing treed a mile and a half out. The boys across the river were trying to get to the bay but had trouble getting through the briars, and by the time they got there the dogs had already rolled out and left a dead shoat there.
All in all the dogs rolled out and killed two more small pigs before anyone could get to the bay. I'm pretty proud of my 5 month old puppies and my pit for catching their first pig in the woods! Might not have been a big one, but a pig is a pig in my book.

The pups were wore out and ready for dinner by the time we got home, lol
