We caught 5 but I lost another good year old prospect and never caught the hog that did the damage. Hunt was over but was missing one dog. Tracked to within 400 yards and she was sitting in one place we walked in and got within 40 yards and my Alfa died. We spread out and found her. She had about bled out. Thanks Ethan for packing her out. Ran a Iv on her to get fluid in her but she died that night. It has been a rough Feb.

Man you have had it rough lately Cajun. I can feel your pain. Almost 8 years ago, I lost 6 in 2 months. It’s tough, some were really good mature dogs and some young dogs too. Hope you can finish the year out without any more losses. Best of luck to you.

Cajun,do your hounds do it all or do you use a bulldog also? Just wondering ,if don't have a bulldog you have some rough ass hounds. Do they tend to bear like that also?

Sorry to hear about your losses. At least you ain't raising those cheerleaders. Sounds like they're tending to business. I'll pray you don't lose anymore.

Thanks Guys. Some of mine are pretty rough. They have just the right amount of grit for bear but a lil to much for hogs.  The problem arises when we have to many dogs on the ground. If we have 4 or 5 they tend to catch everything & that is normally a wreck. Feb. is like that tho, a lot of hogs & some good ones. This last female, was what I call a average gritty dog. She will bite to stop a hog & back up & bay. Just wrong place wrong time. Hog got a lucky shot to her jugular. We do use bulldogs & if we hear 3 or 4 Plotts baying, we know it is a good one.

It belongs to this kid who hunts with us. Anybody who comes & wants to drag, we will give them hogs if they want them. It was the only vehicle he had. lol
