We went to Hálpata Tastanaki hunt last week and had a good time. Total count was between 8 and 12. This was a permit hunt with 25 permits. Doesn't sound to bad except everyone had dogs out at the same time, and their was one person that kept shadowing people and when he heard a bay, he would turn his dogs out and try his hardest to beat you there. The first bay, was spaz, who sounds like an overgrown chihuahua when she is baying and she was the only dog we heard when we were going to her then all of a sudden it was a done deal with some men telling us their dogs were baying this hog. This happened 4 times. But I want to THANK CUTTER BAY KENNEL, JOSH AND CREW, for sealing the deal on this hog. Our dogs bayed this hog right off the road and was getting ready to send the catch dog and he broke and run. Stopped him in some thickets and was going to him and he broke and run again, only he was trying to elude the dogs on his girlfriend, which it worked for one, the young dog bayed her and we caught her and then he caught up with spaz and they ran this boar hog into a pond with a little island in it, along with a moma gator and babies. Josh and his crew seen the gator the day before, so being a good person, not only did they seal the deal, drug the hog out waited til we got there, to see if we wanted the hog. Thanks again for going into that pond with mama. Notice how stiff the boar was, he had not been dead long, The secondpig was the sow he was trying to dump the dogs on

Spaz,
Again, the dogs worked that boar nicely. When the hog bailed into the freezing water, I was very concerned for the dogs baying it. The pond was only about 20' by 40'. There were plenty of baby gators all around the pond. The bigger one was between 7-8 feet long. Even though we did not see any gators that morning at the bay, it was the only pond around for a good bit. I had been seeing them there on a daily basis. Glad ol Spaz lived to bay another. It was a pleasure to meet you and your crew. Hope to see you in the woods again. It was funny as that boar thawed he was not stiff. I think him going stiff right after the stick had something to do with the freezing water. That was not the only time that day I had to wade through a pond to catch the hog. I think I am still waterlogged. Still frozen for sure. LOL!!
Regards, Josh

Don't let the name fool you. It is an Indian name.

I have received several messages asking why I was riding around dumping on other peoples hogs. I need to clear up that that is not what Lisa was saying. There was a group in there doing that, however, it was not my group. Hope that makes sense.

Please, Josh did not dump out on our dogs. There was a truck that was doing this and Josh had it happen to him also. In fact as I was taking the pictures, the truck was driving by and we were discussing the other man. Josh did me a huge favor by catching that hog in that pond. And I thank him . I hnever met Josh until that hunt and glad I did. Very helpful. I ha
