We started out on our first hunt since the summer heat wave with a new mule and some eager dogs. We caught a Small sow about seventy pounds or so and decided to move on to find a big nasty boar, well most of the day the dogs would show promise and then return with disappointment on their face. We had put in a long ride and was headed back to the truck and trailer when all the dogs bolted into the woods and pushed a big nasty boar out into the road. They caught and we rushed in to flip this toothy boar but had trouble cause of the amount of dogs and the strength in this boar was amazing. We were goin at it what seemed like eternity only to wear ourselves out when we finally got him tied up we started looking for dogs. Ghost was twenty yards out (heart sank to our stomachs) stocker was in the road and max was hobling around with his front leg mangled. We spotted ghost and realized it was bad and headed to get the truck hoping he could hold on to get him some help. The other dogs had bayed a large sow and we were lucky enough to call the seasoned dogs left off so we could go get help. Well long story short Ghost past on before we could get back to him. Max lost so much blood that our emergency tailgate work was to no avail. Poor Stocker dog got cut into the throat and got Sub Q Emphasema (air under the skin) and couldnt make it thru the night to see a vet. Called everyone in three countys. Many Many memories from these fine animals. Rest in Peace my three amigos you will be deeply missed... They always say there can be days like this but never sinks in until they are gone. To all fellow hunters get one for these three they deserve to be honored.
