I have a good buddy of mine that keeps every one of his dogs on chains even though he has a nice kennel system going on that he has built off the barn, he only puts his pups in there he tells me that he believe its make his dogs focus on hunting more cause every time he takes them off they know where there going, i dont know if i really believe that, i was wondering how many of you guys keep all your dogs chained up, or do yall just keep certain ones chained, like me personally i keep my catch dog chained up because he can escape anything it seems like.

2 of my dogs are in pens and 1 on a chain. There equally as content and healthy and I see little to no difference that it has made as they have all at one time or another been chained or in big pens and back and forth. Chains don't hurt a thing if there not 2 feet and tangled up. Just my 2cents

it's probably just his way of justifying it. He probably tried this with two dogs and they turned out great so now he runs with this idea. Kinda like the athletes that are superstisous and wear the same socks for every game and such.

Maybe he don't like cleaning the kennels,..... My new bulldog gyp just makes a f'in mess of her kennel every day, and aimost every day my dogs get let out of their kennels to run the dog yard for 20-30 min......I'm been thinking seriously about putting her on a chain..

i have always kept my dogs on 15ft chains (900sq. ft) and 2 weeks ago i built 3 10x15 kennels (150 sq. ft).. even though being in the kennels has taking alot of room away from em i think there happier

Training dogs is not about quantity, it's more about timing, the right situations, and proper guidance...After that it's up to the dog... A hunting dog is born not made...

All my dogs are on chains, always have been. The only time they go in pen is if their in heat, hurt, or having pups.

we got. About 25 dogs all on chains they stay better in shape I think we also have a heat pen and puppy pen but that's it I love the ideas of both I will build kennels if a dog last long enough to retire --- I am here: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=30.580533,-95.599101
