Don't breed anything till it proves it self, that's about all the advice you need as of right now.

There isn't a way to accurately forecasts an unknown lineage dog. Your just gonna have to throw him on the mix and find out bud. Even well established lines its just a well educated prediction on how they will turn out. The woods will ultimately answer all your questions. Good luck with him.

I have heard of a few that made hog dogs and have seen some that were crossed with cur that did pretty good.

They were bred for boar and bird but the majority here in the states are bred for the show ring or for pets with no consideration for the hunting instincts...

So if he works out its more the exception than a rule Ive heard they are more of a bird dog now but ive seen "junk" dogs do great things. I guess i should of looked up training v. Hunting line topic first.

According to your profile and previous post, you are buddies with a "dog trainer" .... I say breed away and then let your buddy do the training... Let us know how they work out for you...

People pick dogs up off the street with 'unproven lines' and try em out on pigs personally I don't think your settin yourself up for failure. Just try it and if it works great. Only one way to find out if he'll work or not. just throw him in a pen and see what he does. You may be surprised

Ive trained akc walker and blus for coon huntn so The only reason i havent.tried it with coon dogs is cause u usually have to have papers to hunt most tournements and im looking at some different dogs other than the ordinary just to try them.

aint no need in trying to reinvent the wheel i can't " train " a dog to do a damn thing . all i can do is let him do what he's bred for and refine on that .
