This is the biggest hog I have ever caught, so we took him to the local meat market to weigh him!  The scales showed 442, they subtracted 4 lbs for the hook that he hung on, so 438 this is as offical as I could get.  He was a barr, and super fat, If a boar he would probally not gone over 350.

We caught this one yesterday and after looking at the picture we had a good laugh about him being a ETHD 300 pounder! He had the attitude and looked huge on the wheeler but he only weighed 170-180.
We didnt weigh him but no way was he over 200.

There is no way to prove it unless you scale the hogs.

Take the picture of Mike and Chris with that monster up top. Unless you have met those two and knew how big a fellers they were, that hog wouldnt have stood out to me like it does. They are big fellas and thats a monster hog!
Ive seen as many picures that didnt do justice to a big hog as I have the oposite effect on smaller hogs.
If its a good hog I can tell regardless of the weight and how much it weighed doesnt matter to me that much. More of an interesting fact.
I bet everyone pictured with those monsters have a story about a boar or two that was twice as bad and not near the size.
Why bother to guess? Just call em what they are. Good hogs!

All that being said T-Bob...........I dont need proof!  Cheesy

Have caught several over 500 lbs. But we had caught them when they were about 250. We cut them made barrows out of them. They eat real good so we cut them and turn loose don't seem to run as hard they turn and fight.

It's hell when you make good hogs look small. Sad

On the other side of that, you see someone posting pics of good hogs that look really big. Then you meet them in person and they're a little bitty fella. Grin

That is some truth there.  I have always said if they way over 150-170lbs they are good enough.  I like to know the weight on some just because its interesting to know what they weighed.  Id just as soon catch some sows or smaller boars as I would catch some big nasty.  The big ones are fun but always a little more stressful!

guess your hogs - 89, 152, 231,

this one was 464, weighed on official WWT digital scale after my scale broke when I was scoring for the folks that caught the hog. But you can go to Weiser weight and Tusk and look at some pictures in weight class

I find the BOARS over 300 truly impressive, down here we used to catch them regularly 230/250ish and less but almost always barred them for later hunting.  They were lean mean fighting most of the time running machines so to see them here intact over 300 is impressive.

Most of the time when people say they are over 300 we figure they are around 2-something cause a 300lb hog is a big dang hog!

In the last 9 years my husband and I have been married we have caught two over 350 and they were butterballs.    This being one, he went 380 after a few days in the trailer and we like to have never got him in the trailer.

Ryan, it was a smaller type wheeler and Scooter was sitting on the back of it when I took the picture with my Iphone. It was a good hog with a 300 pound attitude but he didnt go over 200.

Now that hog in the trailer that weighs 464 looks every bit of it and then some in that pic!

Great post T-Bob.  Ive been hunting for time and have been live weighing my hogs and the guys that tought me for a long time.  Ive seen less than 4 hogs go over 400.  Not saying there out there but it's far fetch most of the time.  That's why when i hear most story's now i just ask for the scale ticket.  I want to see proof as well.  If so great job...  I consider a good hog from 200 or better!  Ive got pictures of 300 pounders but not the 400 pounders your looking for! Shot him in trailer at taxidermist/processor.
