Boone, what do you know about Chicken Charlie? James Davis' foundation stud dog, Useless, was out of Charlie. He'd bark three times and catch. I hunted with James several times a year when I first started. I asked a lot of questions and learned a lot from James... helluva good man.

some of them foundation dogs are or can get real gritty. i had a male that was out of some of bob cox/donald brekenridge dogs. he went back to yellow jacket and it has been the same with several other yellow jacket line dogs and even a few carnathan dogs.

Mike A man by the name of Richard Brooks from Silsbee Tx owned him. My old dog is His Grand pup. He was just as good of a producer as he was a hog dog. I know of several old timers that used him pups to catch cattle and hogs in the woods. Most of them claim they were the best dogs they ever owned. One of my best friends grew up with Richards boys and hunted with the dog. I have some of his blood.

James sold all his dogs and got out several years ago. There's quite a few people on here that have some of his bloodline.

"Useless" was Chicken Charlie like Mike said alot of Catch to him and he woulkd always lay his left shoulder into the hog and take a cutting. JD also crossed in the Swain blood too, and some Ladner too.

Anyone use these rough lines on cattle? Trying to get rough with control/discipline rather than blind fury.
