Any of you guys just use steel or lead shot? I'm thinking of getting a little huunting in while I camp to put a little something in the pot. Not trying to be fancy LOL! I'll be getting a takedown recurve for more serious stuff.

unless uu had a pretttty bad a sling shot that had some strong bands and could wad up the bb pretty good almost like a shotgun wad. and u might have to be reall close. anoher problem a see is the lil strip of leather being to big and the bbs jus  going in random places. and the glass balls do they actually break?Huh?

Thanks for all the replies. I'm shopping around for some good old fashioned slingshots. i'm thinking of doing it for hunting and as a sport.  Another skill I can teach my kids( when i start having them) to help them in life. It's time to start teaching survival skills to the next generation. the excrement is about to hit the electric powered oscillating air circulation device LOL!

I'll post more as I find it.

I had an Uncle that was very good with a sling shot back when I was a little kid. He hunted with all kinds of guns and came over all the time so he could hunt...He showed me how to make home made sling shots and we went to the drug store and bought the rubber bands...he was the one who started me on them...we used the leather tongue from old shoe for the sling shot pouch, with a little modification it looked great and very functional...I got pretty good with it...

Me and my dogs would go out hunting for game and the dogs caught lots of rabbits each day...If the rabbit made it to the hedge one of the smaller dogs would go and if I saw the rabbit in an opening I would take him out with one rock to the head...I had a gravel road that ran in front of our house so I had an endless supply of ammo for my sling shot...Sometimes I let the little dog flush the rabbit for the big dogs to catch...it was all fun and games...sometimes I used a spear and when I got older I used an auto 22 and let the rabbit run and I shot him on the run if a dog didn't beat me to the draw...sometimes the little dog would catch in the hedge...

I still keep a good sling shot around but never get around to using it...

If you want some stronger bands go get you some of the exercise bands. I am going to use the black for my slingbow.  Will add pics when I finish but who knows when that will be lol.  The guy I work with just gets a good y shaped branch and takes a regular sling shot bands takes the small pouch off and adds a bigger one.  He uses pieces of intertube and another small piece of leather to attach to the wood then for the pouch he uses another piece of intertube.  Will take a picture tomorrow.

Get some rubber surgical tubing for use as the rubber bands. I knew a welder who used it instead of the factory adjustment knob n it lasted many many yrs of sweat n buckshot burns. I had hm made sling shot made from it n never had to replace the bands n i had it for 5ish yrs
