Cheating a polygraph? Lol, I know it "CAN" be done but by a four member team? I think y'all been watchin to much T.V. Lol

Kevin nope just been at work LOL. I may be wrong but in years past was it not just the team capt. that was tested? It would cost too much to test the whole team(s).

Lol, I don't know...never even been in one of those. Let me just put it this way....I've been.....slightly educated on beating a polygraph, just a 30 minute class in S.E.R.E. school. There are techniques.
I "had the pleasure" of taking one once on a job interview. I tried to.....fringe an answer...it didn't work. Lol

I kill every hog we catch. I will not hunt in a catch and tie contest.I am not set up to keep hogs alive. I am OK with that.
We catch lots of sows with shoats. We can not turn in pigs less then x lbs. I am OK with that.

You catch a lot of Barr hogs. Don't hunt the contests that won't let you weigh them in. No one is taking your rights away.
The buyers won't buy Barr anyways. If they do offer to buy ask more per pound because that hog is being sold to a hunting operation.

This may not mean much but here are my thoughts on how the rules should be laid out to give all hunters around Texas a chance. I do thank people are starting to not hunt these contests as much anymore bc they know how hard it is to catch 5 big hogs in 2 days. People who place or win this every do so by hunting feed lots and places where they barr. Its hard for the avg dog man to compare to these places. Saying that here are rules that would level it out for everybody. You will have alot more teams enter and the weigh in will alot more exciting because of how close it will be.

-3 HOG WEIGH IN
-ONLY 1 CAN BE A BARR
-DEAD HOGS ONLY
-SIDE POTS FOR  LONGEST TUSK(BOAR ONLY), BIG BARR, BIG SOW AND MOST IN STRINGER.

What is everyone's thoughts???
PROS
- Easier on teams to not drag and gut 5 hogs
- Level playing field (Everyone has a chance)
- Can still catch a barr and only need more boars
-You would not have to travel from place to place as much to find 5 big hogs compared to 3...
-Less hogs means less stress on the TDHA, workers and contestants involved
CONS
- Not as many hogs to donate but you should make up for that bc more teams will show up
-??

Good luck. Its hard to fight ignorance on these topics. Its like when I argued about a bay n shoot rule. None of the people making the rules acually bayed and shot. Huh?

We are working on a solution to try and make things good for both sides.  What i don't understand is why comments like this are directored towards people who spend money and time away from there own lives to fight for your right to hunt with dogs.  We are not perfect and we can not make everyone happy when it comes to this hunt but at the end of the day what we do is for YOU.

Thanks for everyone suggestion and comments.  I have read every single one of them.

I appalogize boarwild. That was a poor choice of words. I just meant its hard to discuss some of this stuff with people who have little experience with it. Its can be very frustrating for both sides.

Cwhite,
I was the person who pushed for the 5 hogs on the Tdha tournament. The theory at the time was the team that could put up the highest average was the better team. After 2 years of seeing the effects I tried to talk the board to going back to 3. It was pushing a lot of your average weekend hunters out. Plus, as you stated, from a logistic stand point it is easier on every one involved. (Be careful saying that... you will be called the devil, lazy, accused of not wanting to feed the hungry, and that you treat women badly Cheesy) Honestly I did not expect to see 5 hogs as big as they have been brought in. By going back to 3, I agree, you will put less distance between the places and increase the odds of winning for more people.

Thank you.  I don't post hunts on forums very often but i hunt a lot and i have been hunting with dogs for close to 15 years, and i am not the only one on the board that hunts.  I have no problem saying i don't have experience with barring hogs because it was not and isn't how i was taught to hunt or how i hunt.  I do think Barr hog hunting is like a religion, and i don't think anyone should be penalized for what they beleive in.  We feel people were starting to barr hogs just so they can win contest and not becuase they have always done it.  It's those people that have caused this issue with other contest and we are just trying to make our contest fair and mostly trying to keep cheaters from winning.  People in south texas don't normally barr hogs so when i hear they are and hunt a contest i am like come one man.

Like you said, I believe that what some of us are so upset about, I for sure am, is I feel like I am getting accused of trying to cheat because I believe in and hunt barrs and want to be able to use one in a contest if I go through all of the trouble to catch it. I never even entered a hog hunting contest until last year and then only the one, so therefore I have never barred hogs to give me an advantage in a contest and never will. Texas J has stated several times that the only reason we are upset is that we think we can not win without barrs and that the only reason we barr hogs is so we can stock up a place with them to hunt during competitions. I realize that everyone does not but I for one have a strong moral code and I feel that my morals and integrity are being stomped on and drug through the mud when comments like that are made. I know that my " Democrats running the hunting contest " comment offended him and others but that is how I and many others feel. I really wanted to hit the Trail of Tears and it's tournaments this year but now I believe I will just go hunt for fun with some friends or hit one of the numerous small tournaments around the house on those weekends and read on ETHD about the best winning the Trail Tournaments when so many of the best hunters and dogs were not even entered ! It appears that my original opinion of hog dog tournaments turned out to be true. Very political and a joke, alot like our Govt. Thank's again boarwild for all you do and I am sorry you are haveing to put up with all of this needless B.S.

A hog is a hog. They allow boars but nothing that aint got nuts but yet allow sows too. It would appear that it should be called a boar n sow hunting tourny, not a hog hunting tourny. Lance, u call it how u see it and atleast some folks still hav integrity n morals.

hey buddy no harm no foul.  Its all good here.  I just wanted it to be known it is not so glamorous to be BOD on any board not just TDHA.  This hunt is a big part of what gives us the funds to lobby and fight for our rights.  We get questioned and complained at about the rules a lot, and i would venture to say a lot of those people are not even members of TDHA.  At the end of the day our job is very hard to please our members while trying to please the non members.

Truely at the end of the day this all stems from people who just can't hunt without cheating.  All we can do is make it hard to cheat and sometimes the poeple who are honest get hurt.  Were gonna do our best guys and some of you may not hunt our contest becuase of it and were sorry for that, but we will still keep fighting the fight for you.
