First hunt was with my Fl Cur puppy Blaze (6mo old) and my friend brought his two pups, and we each had a adult dog. More dogs then I wanted, but we went with it.  Really liked how my pup hunted that day. He was not following the adult dogs and did not play with the other pups. Was hunting out about 100-150yds with his nose to the ground as well as winding. When are adult dogs pulled out in a area with some hog sign, so did my pup. My buddies Rio dog bayed a little shoat and my pup honered and caught out with Rio. Little, but still a good day for the pup!!

The second hunt we just brought my pup and my Gator dog. My pup again was hunting on his own. Staying out 100-150yds, and pulled out a couple times 500-600yds. We head to a over grown thicket that has some little ponds in it and the dogs pulled out on each side of the pond. Puppy went east and Gator went west. Gator bayes up a couple of hogs in the thicket. We see a nice black boar and another hog in the thicket. Look at the Garmin and the pup is 350yds west and doing his own thing. We work are way around the thicket to get closer to Gator and the hogs. Cut my catch dog Clyde to Gator and Clyde catches a sow. By the time I get the hog thrown all the dogs are there caught out!!

It can be frustrating at times but I don't think there is anything better than working/hunting with pups. Congrats on the pork and your pups doin well.

I like breeding my own dogs and training my own pups. Blaze is 6mo old and I can tell by how he handles himself in the woods he will be a good one if he lives. He will hopefully learn to catch what he can handle, because right now he is like all of my dogs when their young, he is straight catch!! Evil
