Do any of you East Texas cur dog history buffs know anything about Mr. Winfrey and his dogs. He was born in 1913 and died in 1994 in Coldsprings. I know that his dogs had influence on the Woodruff and Hutto dogs and appears to have influenced several more lines.

My black dogs go back to the Winfrey dogs on one side... the few I know of were brindle cur dogs, with a hound influence. I was told the Winfrey's had running hounds also... I'd imagine they were bred into them somewhere along the line.

I met Mr. Winfrey a few years before he died; Bennie introduced us at Mr. Winfrey's home. The little dog Clyde that Bennie got from Bo Nutting went back to some dogs Bennie raised and to a Winfrey dog named Ellis. All that is according to pedigree info that Bennie had.

I have a friend at Elkhart that has dogs that I think go back to Tom Winfrey dogs. I think that most dogs today that go to the Winfrey dogs would likely have them several generations back in their pedigrees. I believe he had good dogs.

Your gyp come from Wade or after he sold the Tom dog , I ask because Wade had a lot brindle dogs from the Hart line out of Batson , and pretty sure Wayne got some dogs from Melvin Chapin that he bred to Tom I believe they were Winfrey dogs too

Terry winfrey is my uncle by marriage and i could ask him more about it. Thats all of his family and dogs that you are asking about. I have a handful of dogs that are winfrey bloodline...red, black, dark brindle and sadle backs. He has a few solid black still hanging around as well.

There is Winfrey blood in the New Waverly side of our dogs. Terry will occasionally make hunts with us, but it's been a few years since we've made a hunt

Actually Chase, find out what Terry knows about a bitch named Pearl. I've been wanting to ask home forever, but always forget. I believe Dane Castleshouldt owned her at a some point, as well a Mike Tomkavitch but I wS told she was a Winfrey dog
