Under starry skies on Feb. 28, Jett Webb of Conetoe ensured there will be one less mouth to feed in the Indian Woods section of Bertie County – and a real big mouth, too. Webb took down a massive wild boar that bottomed out a set of scales certified to 500 pounds that’s used for weighing tobacco bales.

Well I guess I am going to beleive the story until proven otherwise.  I've never seen a 500 lb wild hog, I guess that is until now.  I know how to make a hog look bigger in pictures than what it really is and I dont know for sure that hog is 500 lbs, but if he is, thats a big one.

Looks like 275 lbs and fancy photo tricks. I have seen 500 pound Euro boars pen raised and they had fat bulging out of every place that could store fat.

Wish there was a picture of that gun in his hands laid in front of or up against that hog for a little size reference, not sayin it ain't a 500lb hog but I am sayin that there's no way to know without something for a size reference other than a fella sittin behind the hog, how does anyone know if he is 6" or 6' behind the hog in the pic? big hog none the less.

read the article and the man that shot him told the paper it was 500lbs.  Why isn't there a pic of the scale with the hog on it?  Im gonna call BS on this one.  Good hog but hes not 500.

Its a neat trick to make him look that big for sure, even neater how the dead animal is holding his head up so high with no support under it.

When I first read this (this morning) I was at work and didn't study the pic very well.  After zooming in and out and looking at shadows, what stands out to me is the clarity of the pixels of the hog and the clarity of the guys face.  They don't look the same to me.  I too would like to have seen the hog on a scale.  Most hunters that are that proud, and had it weighed on a scale, would have taken that pic also.

Justin that's an AR platform and in the news report link attached to this post it says shot with a .308, so it has to be an AR10.  Even with a fixed stock and a 24 inch barrel (which almost no one has, and this one sure isn't a 24inch, look at the hand guard to barrel difference) that gun would look tinier than it does in the picture.

On top of the barrel length, that aint no ar-10. The polymer mag is a 30rd .556, plus the upper recvr aint big enuf to b an ar-10 platform.

I'm going with it's a fake. Look at the tree above his back hip and then look at the tree above his tusk. How far is it between those two trees compared to how wide that guys shoulders are. Just saying.
