I bought these 5 dogs off of an ole boy who was tight for cash and had to get rid of them, I had never hunted with him and had to go solely off of what he told me about the dogs... he told me that they we're all short range and that he caught hogs with them... I don't know very much about the dogs but will give my opinion on them and will tell you everything I've seen them do since Ive had them...I've had them for a month now and have wormed them and poured the groceries to them... IMO they all look good and now just need to find a new hunting home... I have showed each of them a hog twice now in the pen and they will all bark at a hog... I took lefty, pancho, and old man on a hunt with me last week and they all three we're at the 2 different bays we had when they we're on the ground... they did not strike the hogs but looked to me like they we're what I would consider a help dog... here's there info one at a time:
1. lefty- he's a 3 year old BMC, he shows potential to be a strike dog just needs to be hunted, he's out of shape... he gets rough with another dog if the pig tries to run but will bay one all day by himself... will catch with bulldogs...$250
2. pancho- looks like he could be 1/2 cur or bulldog and 1/2 pointer... Very friendly,he's all black and also shows potential to make a strike dog... he stays busy while hunting and is not afraid to go out with my lead dogs... he went 800 with my main dog last week and started heading back, when he was about 300 from me my lead dog bayed and he turned right around and honored bay... not sure on age but judging by the way he looks/acts he's 1-2 years old and has all his teeth... he will catch with bulldog... $250
3. Old man... he looks like a reverse BMC, black on top tan on bottom... wide chested and very friendly, little growly in box with other male dog but nothing a little discipline won't stop... he looks to be an older dog, I'd guess 5, he stayed around ranger until dogs bayed and then honored just fine... Will catch with bulldogs... Both times I showed him pigs in the pen he ran in and bayed very tight until the pig tried to run then he was locked on ear like a bulldog... both pigs we're 150+ that he saw in the pen... the hogs we caught in wild with these dogs we're both bayed for a short amount of time and by the time all 6 dogs we're there they had them caught before we turned out the bulldogs... he's very friendly on and off his chain just shows a little aggression to males dogs in the box like I mentioned... $200
4. phsyco... guessing he's a 3-4 year old dog, he's got lots of energy and is very fast in the pen and is very muscular, as far as what his breed is, your guess is as good as mine, he's got a short frames bulldog type body with a small head... he looks kinda goofy but will bay hogs in the pen... worked him with some of my pups on a hog I released out into the woods the other day and he was right up there with my pups that struck and was caught on the hog with my pups when I got there, I'm gonna call him a help dog going off of what I've seen... $100
5. red female... she looks like she is pretty old, maybe 5-6... she's friendly and will bay in pen, she looked like she lacked confidence on her own but showed a lot more interest when another dog bayed with her... she's free to a good home
from what I've seen after working all 5 in the pen and # 1-3 on pigs in wild... they all 5 seem to be dogs that know what a hog is they just need to be hunted and need to get back into shape, I will gladly show them on a hog in the pen and can send pics via txt or email...
