Got to work yesterday morning and was asked to make a trip from the Portland area to east Oregon to get an acft the parts to get it back up to airworthy status. Forgot how beautiful this part of the country was. It was a 12hrs drive round trip and boy was I rung out. It wasn't but 600 miles but at 50mph average, stuck behind old timers out sight seeing, I was drop dead tired when I got back to the hotel
didn't stop, but gonna rent a car the nxt time I'm up here and make part of the drive again and stop for a closer look at all the stuff I didn't get a chance to ck out. Then rent a plane and have a look see at it all from a different outlook than most get to see

Lava fields

The town of john day, where we had an acft broke. The forestry services airport is 3200'msl and I was bout halfway up the windy road from the town. I figure I was 1000' above the town.

Our CHI 107, which some of yaw may think its a CH-46, but it was boeings request for a civilian tandem rotor acft and CHI bought the type certificate from Boeing, as was done with the CHI 234, some of yaw would say a CH-47, but it ain't.

The town is called dayville and some1 decided to paint big rocks and place them in the letter of a D

I sure like it over there Charles. We are goin to Sun River in a couple weeks. There are some hogs over there. They come up the Des Chutes valley and have made it to the Columbia River but anytime they get very many they get in and shoot em up. I have talked to guys who have seen and shot hogs in the Shaniko and Antelope area. Glad you are getting to see a little of the country!
