Birdseye is the only way to go.it's so detailed that you can find the thinnest spots in the thick woods to get to your dog's.The detail is the key for me it takes a lot of straight line bulldozing out of the equation.

Cracker u make huntin to easy I like to go to the woods with out a garmin like in the old days and just sit on the hood and listen anyways I ain't never seen the Birdseye view but I have caught a lot of hogs with just the plan map but I always got a road card for mine

Yep all of the roads are still there but you can see every dim road and trail that aren't named or marked on the standard map.Also you'll know if they're in water or by water ,houses,property lines pastures you get what I'm saying it's a satellite image so you know exactly what's going on.
P.Wilson I just recently got the alpha and the birdseye within the last 6 months before that I was a straight line bulldozer lol but it sure is nice being able to see a trail 20 ft from hell.

I've owned my alpha for 3 years and it works good. But. I definitely rather work smarter than harder if I can. I don't care just to push a path. But If need arises I will. Lol. i do fine with the regular topo card in my garmin ....but my son has the birds eye and he definitely can do better with it ...we know the country where we hunt and sometimes he says the dog is in this cutover or that cutover or going down a firelane and such that I don't see with the topo I find myself saying Louis where's he at because of the details of the birds eye .... though I do good with just what I have guessing hahahhaa .....

They both have their perks, I have the topo and my best friend Chris has Birdseye, mine gives names of roads and creeks and stuff Birdseye does not, when we hunt together we use his to know what type of terrain they're in and mine to know the elevation and some of the smaller streams that's kinda hard to see on Birdseye...

i don't have birds eye on my garmin but if I did I would just keep an extra topo map card for the U S and if I went out of area of my birdseye view download load I would slip the topo card in .....I do just fine with my topo card ,,,,but my son can tell you if the dog is in someone's yard or in an open field or crossing any old logging roads just more detail than I have with mine ....... and if you hunt with someone that has it you will find yourself asking where's the dogs hahahahahaha .....
