Yesterday evening sitting around the house and got a text from my buddy Josh up around Dayton, said they was running in the morning and I had an open invite. I've been waiting to see some pine trees so I trucked it there this morning. Get to the spot meet Josh's buddy Joe. We make about a 20 minute ride back in to the swamp we turn out. My Kate gyp, and Josh's Tex, Belle, and Toby. All the dogs hit the ground running and went their seperate ways. Go anywhere from 500 this way to a mile that way. Finally belle line one out and got hook up on a good boar track and she took it to the bacon. Toby and Tex get to her and the catch out just as I'm showing up with bulldog. Send the bulldog for backup and joe comes right behind and flips him and we kill him. Good black mean boar hog. Decent little teeth about 160-175 lbs. he managed to get ahold of belle decent and caught Toby up inside his back leg but nothing major so we rolled on. No sooner do we kill this pig the rain starts in and didn't stop for rest of the hunt. Went to an pipeline and cut the dogs out. Again everything rolls. Dogs doing their own thing then Tex drops the hammer at about 400. Or so we thought. He comes out of the swamp with no pig, kinda wondering what happened we walked them back in there where he was barking kinda and he threw his nose up and rolled on. About 10 minutes later he was looking at one. Belle Toby and Kate all show up and I guess we're feeling groggy cause they all hung him. Good sized spotted boar hog with some good teeth and a lot of fight to him. Got a little western but we got him down and dogs came out pretty well for what it could have been. Kate took a tooth in the chest and other dogs got some scratches but all in all everyone was good. Ended up getting greedy and the swamp made us pay as we were gonna try for a trifecta and got to spend 45 minutes working a come along to get the rig out. We decided to call it a day after that. Damn good time, sure enough dogs went to work and we caught a few good hogs when most anyone woulda stayed at the house. Had a blast!
