I'm gonna bring this post back to life from years ago. Matt i still own two of the dogs i got out of that Tater and Brandy cross and the other one is with my partners daddy up in Port Lavaca and still get the chance to hunt with him some. These dogs were bred right, two of them are winding machines. We wind them off the truck and if there is hogs out your gonna gettem. One that i kept, Shorty, sounds just like old Tater he winds like hell and bays real loose, l love the way he works out by himself. he is silent and has bayed whole groups of hogs several times. I sure wish i could find more dogs that are bred like him and Tater were.

What a javelina can do that a pig can't is bite their rear!!! That is what gets the dogs... they are quick and hell on a pack of dogs.... If sbrooks ever gets on here he is a pro with em Well like Mr. Wine has pointed out I have the unfortunate ability to catch the hell out of them. My dogs are something like pros right about now when handling them. They are very agile and aggressive when its time to get down. Once the dogs get on them everyone we have come across head for a culvert or den of some kind and if they get dogs in there they will do work all night on them. And there is no catch and release with these suckers cause once no dogs are helping you stretch'em they can bite anywhere on their body and fast.

Eric i was thinking about the hunt and talking about it with my wife and we got a food laugh about having the supper 44 oz. syrofoam cup of water at the bay. After recalling how and where we ended up baying catching and sticking that boar. The more i think about it, it was a classic moment and will never forget it as long as i live and will probably tell the story several times. so for everyone else here it is.
Eric and I were riding the tailgate watching the dogs winding off the box and cab when they take off, and Jared kills the truck. We hear the dogs baying so we cut dogs loose from the box and no sooner than we do the hog breaks and bays again at a fenceline. breaks one more time and then ends up in alot of brush with hog and deer trails through it, at one time we had to crawl through some trails. As we get there the boar is dragging the dogs further into the brush and we finally get a chance to leg it and Eric goes in for it. Soon as he grabs it he hollers out for us to stick it which i oblige. So here's where i somewhat notice the cup of water but still doesn't really register. Hog was pretty big so we decided with the distance, terrain and having to look after one of the dogs we decided to leave it. After we get back to the truck and look at the dogs and water them, there is eric with the big'ol styrofoam cup. After he takes a big pull of water he says in that voice when you drink a big gulp of water " I don't usually take a cup to the bay with me." Thinking about it after the fact, we had to go through a barb wire fence where i kicked jared in the face, ran across a small pasture that was rooted tall to hel, haad to find whre the dogs and hog went under a high fence, crawled under that into the brush, crawiling through some of that and then doing it all in reverse again to get back to the truck. Just something that i will always remember.
I don't usually bring a cup to the bay with me

Definetly a good time. Glad to meet Eric and for us to finally get out there and leg a few. Joe called me a few times asking about the dogs trying to get a blow by blow of how the dogs performed. We need to get Tex started winding from the hood now and we'll be good.

Just wanted to know general info I guess. It will probably be another two years befre I move up, but we are looking at buying some property pretty soon. There's some tracts of land for sale on c.r. 30 just before holiday lakes. Wanted to know how well its drained over there during really wet times. Also as far as schools and such go, I guess angleton is where the kids go. Just looking for that type of info. Wanted to se how many people from the board live down around there and get their opinions and maybe where some other properties are for sale. Kinda lookin anywhere from brazoria on up to alvin area. My mother lives just orth of alvin in hastings I guess you would call it. Gona be up there sometimes in the next few weeks to look at some places. Thanks in advance. Jheffern I'll probably get with you if you have the time

Well i ended up getting someone to come and get'em. I ended up helping the guy tip the shed up on end a little bit with a couple of links of chain and my tractor so he could fog some kind of white powder out of his machine up in there. And let me tell you this, its a good thing i didn't get to foolin with them to much myself because the swarm of bee's that came from under there when he started spraying was like a dark cloud you would see on a cartoon. I had to back up all the way to the back of the yard to stay out of them flying around. Anyhow thanks for the suggestions and just to let you know brake parts cleaner will take care of them also.

HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Honey bee removal.

Got a question for anyone who can help. I have a bee hive under a shed in my back yard and need to get it gone. They have been there for a couple of years off and on and i have never bothered them and they have not bothered me or my family or dogs until now. I was out weed eating and wouldnt you know it......boom they were on me. Luckily only one got me since i had on pants and long sleeves but it was rather comical looking back on it now. Had a set of saw horse directly behind me when it happened started moving back at a rather quick pace, did a back flip that would make Mary Lou impressed landed with the weed eater still in hand and running full speed trying to wack them in the air and escaped around the garage to fight another time. So how bout it anybody got any home remedies to get them out of there. Have a open house tommorrow afternoon and need to finish the yard up.
