Monkey....gone but never forgotten! RIP

I took this video with my phone a couple weeks ago, just never had time to upload it until today. I WAS going hunting today, but the rain, thunder and lightening all last night and this morning changed my mind. I don't mind some rain, but the lightening is another thing.

The two Monkey x JJ pups that I kept have not been messed with at all on a hog. I have some hogs in a pen behind the barn but none of my dogs ever mess with them, even Monkey who runs loose most of the time. The pups have seen them in that pen since day one and just accept them as they do the chickens and everything else around the barn.

Well, I caught one of the pigs and put it in a crate behind the barn, where the pups couldn't see what was going on. Then I let the pups out. They ran around the barn, saw the pig and you can see from the video, the runt REALLY liked  it! The runt is the one with the collar on.

It may be a GOOD thing the pig was in a crate and not loose or hobbled!

You other guys with pups from this litter, let me know when you start messing with them. These pups were 5 months old in this video clip. As soon as I get a chance I am going to start working them regularly.

I think the runt MAY be a tad gritty too.... Grin   I kept telling everyone that runt was going to be the best dog out of the litter. Just something in her eyes told me that....so far I have high hopes for her. She is smart, athletic and isn't scared of anything.

She actually beats the other pup up and has made it more timid.  I haven't had much luck with timid dogs in the past though. I may have to seperate them soon.

the pup i got is a gritty sob....hates strangers...........well hates anyone but me and ppl that come to the house regurally. lol. i dont mind it tho.

month or so ago. there was a police stop on the way home from one of my hunts and the officers were asking me all sorts of questions and before i could say dont mess with the dog box a officer put his hand in at the side opening of my dog box that pup ripped that officers glove right off his hands and he went to running and hollaring. when i got home that pup had ripped that glove to shreds. i was just taking him hunting to get used to riding in the box. needless to say the officers let me go on my way after that happened. but then again what idiot puts thier hand in another mans dog box.

i like him..... hes a leggy guy and i think hes gonng take awhile getting used to growing so much. once he grows into his body i think he will make a dog. if not he can keep my yard free of strangers.

got on a bad hog that cut up some dogs and had the pup on the ground afterwards to see the hog. and the hog would move and he would bay and pull hair. he trys to fight everything atleast twice.....hahah

I had a guy who got one of the Monkey x JJ pups send me this pic of his female pup. He has her started on cattle at 6 months and said she is doing great. Anyone who has seen my Monkey dog can tell, this female looks just like him! She looks a lot like the one koyote76 got too. Mine don't really look like Monkey to me, nor do they look like their dam JJ. Just somewhere inbetween....
