Buddy of mine called me and asked if i wanted to make a run. Now a little back story here. He dont hunt dogs, says he loves it, doesnt own a dog and dont know how to barr a hog, so im always a little skeptical to run with him. Now on the other hand a friend of his ive hunted with before was coming so i knew i had a little help, that and my old lady came along and I know she will listen and do what i tell her too if need be. We turned out about 9pm and walk hunted a while with NOTHIN. Bout mid night we came out of the woods and put the dogs up on the box and drove through the cow field. My old man jack started actin piggy so i told them i was gonna walk him down the fence line. My new friend brandon had a 4 year old or so cur he said was gritty and would catch with another dog. Which works out great since my yella dog will too and we didnt have a bulldog. We made it about a hundred yards down the fence line and the dogs went in, heard a loud splash in the creek followed by two more and out pops about a hundred or so pound hog, but no dogs.. Bout five minutes go by and we hear it, the dogs were bayed in the swamp probably 500 or more yards from us. After a lot of crawlin the bay breaks, they get it stopped still further, then it breaks again. After an hour of crawlin I head out to the cow field where my girlfriend had gone and got my gyp (whos about half started) out of the truck for backup (this comes into play ). I can still hear my dog bay, then break bay then break but heading back to the truck. My new friend's dog is now at our feet and we start walking towards Jack. We get about half way and my gyp throws her head up and me being as calm and patient as i am, (did i mention i had to get up at 330am for work??) tell her screw it turn her loose too late to go to bed. My gyp takes out like a shot, with the other cur right behind her. I hear my gyp open with Jack and i take out. When i heard the bay quit i started to get worried till i rounded the corner and heard the crashing. No squealing just grunting. As soon as i turned on my light im sure SH1T was the only thing i could say. Both cur dogs were earings and my gyp was running circles hitting the rear end keepin him "focused" I got through the barbed wire fence grabbed both legs neither of which my hands would go all the way around, got the back end up.. and.... THAT WAS IT!! All i could say was BRANDON GET YOUR A$$ IN HERE!!! We managed to get him flipped while my buddy the agriculture officer tried to get through the fence, and forgot to hold it for my girlfriend who was tryin like heck to get in there. While im laughing at them my gyp who loves me dearly im sure decides to come up behind me a nuke the heck out of me. So now im sitting on a monster beating a dog off the back of my leg. We got him stuck and drug out for a major photo shoot. Got him weighed with a brand new scale and he came out 280 even, although i didnt measure the teeth they are probably an inch and a half good dog cuttin teeth. Great night and made a new friend, only downside is as im writing this i should be getting ready for work... Gonna be a long day.. Enjoy the pics. Oh forgot to mention. NO DOGS WERE HARMED IN THE MAKING OF THIS ADRENALINE RUSH.. mee and the girlfriend.. First pig she has ever killed.. not bad for a first..

Nice Barr hog. I'd rather catch one good Barr or one big boar versus 10 sows and shoats.

Im with ya. I dont care what im catching but i prefer a good hog. While my girl friend was on her way to us, my little gyp kept tryin to get one stopped from what i was told there was close to 20 head in the field and she would run one towards the woods until Jack would bay up then shed quit it and head towards him. God knows he needed the help but im hopin she will quit doin it and run her own unless called off.

Nice hog. I hate it when you have to worry about getting up for work instead of hunting
