walkers are great hog dogs just how they are, if they fit your boots then hunt them. they are only 10 months so give them some time to grow. i had a young gyp that i found that didnt turn on till she was grey in the face.

No, seriously though. Knowing nothing about your hounds I would say as an educated guess, that becuase neither tree hounds nor American bulldogs are traditionally known for speed, I wouldn't bother that cross.

Walkers are not known for grit, but thats not to say that there all like that but as a whole they are not. Thats why most, not all but most big game hunters that prefer grit use plotts. I have seen gritty and non gritty in them all.
And if anyone has any doubt, just go to the coast of NC and get on a mean fighting bear and see which ones hit the road first. Seen it plenty of times.
If you want grit, why not breed them to a good cur?

I'll second the 'take you time' advice you've been given. If these dogs are only 10 months old and barely started, thinking about what to breed them with is so far down the list that it doesn't even make it on the list....! Enjoy hunting your Walkers and watching them progress into whatever they're going to be as dogs. You have the rest of your life to be concerned about breeding them. Good luck.

THey are ten months old. Wait a few years to breed them. Make sure they are worth breeding first.
