Made another hunt with John and Cory this past week same thing we was on hogs 10 minutes after we turned loose. After several miles back and forth we stopped and waited a few hundred yards ahead of the dogs a hog about 250 walked across the road dogs crossed behind him and got out of communication on the garmin but before we could move another hog a little bigger than the first walked across the road 100 yards from where the first one went in at. I caught trooper and hound up and put them on the track it wasn’t just a few minutes they were out of communication too. So we started driving to them the closest we could get was around .85 .90 they would show bayed then back moving. We ended up driving several miles around the highway and got within 500 of hound he was across the river and a bunch of backwater I ended up hollering trooper out but hound wouldn’t budge so we started wading water then we get to the actual river and can see him on the other side cut bad walking the bank , he wouldn’t cross for anything so we started down the river bank looking for a log but found something better a boat! We ended up putting all our leashes together and pushing Cory across in the boat since he was the smallest. Got hound out and called it a day it was 4:30 pm by this time and we turned dogs loose at 7:30 that morning, John had to go back 2 days later and get his other dog we lost that day collar went dead and he wouldn’t come out he found him alive he had climbed up a fell over tree top in the middle of a slough and was waiting. I’m ready for these next days off to get back in the woods it was a hell of a day and some fine dog work that means more to me than anything sometimes.
