Well TheRednose, Barbie, and myself loaded up and took our athletic trainer, his son, and little brother this morning. There was a BUNCH of California there. Of course The Rednose is from California but so are 2 little guys and our trainer is a transplant from there. I had Raylynn, Lulu, Ava, and hauled my buddy Sid's young dog Mojo and Barbie brought his Raylynn pup Ken (how fitting a name). Mojo isn't finished but very well started so the extra dog wasn't as big a deal for me. For catch dogs we had Barbie's Shaq dog and my 11 dog. They are litter mate brothers. We cast the dogs all the way to north end of the place so that the wind was blowing to us. It wasn't 2 or 3 minutes and they bayed a few barks and the race was on. These hogs are plenty wild. In pretty short time they had a shoat caught and we went to it. Had to load Ken up because he didn't leave. We could tell something was wrong and then he was throwing up. Went around to the direction of the rest of the dogs and waited. Raylynn bayed then Mojo fell in, then Lulu and it was another caught shoat. Looked to see where Ava was and she was at 900yds doing her own thing. Went and killed that hog and of course those 3 older dogs were gone. They put up bay at 500 from us then it broke and they bayed again at .72. We went to the buggy to drive around and I called Ava in. She must have heard them because she was just about to us. As we were driving to a gate I saw a group of 5 or 6 trying to leave those woods heading towards the woods we started in. Nothing of size, heck I doubt if any of them weighed 100 pounds. Barbie hopped the fence ran out towards them and I sent Ken and Ava to him. The hogs made a U turn but those pups couldn't see them because of the hay grazer. Boy you should've seen those 2 little number 2s when they smelled them. They lit out in a run now. In just a min they were bayed at 580 so we went to them. When we got to them they were bayed on the bank of a little hide away tank. Barbie went one way and I went the opposite. He got where he could see them and said it was 2 shoats. I sent 11 and he caught one and those 2 pups stayed with the other one even with the one squealing. Then, I'm not gonna mention any names (Barbie), but someone let the second one get away when it swam across the pond. We caught the pups and then went and picked up the other dogs. I'm confident they polished off another shoat while waiting on us. Adrenaline after effects and an early rise make for some tired youngsters lol. As far as that goes, I thought for a min that The Rednose was gonna lay his head on my shoulder the way he was nodding off on the buggy. It was a good hunt for ALL the youngsters.

He really isn't pretty but the real reason is he is just shy about photos and having his picture up. I didn't get the ok to post his picture so I just chose to black him out.

Thanks Joel. He's coming along. We were able to get a little off leash training in yesterday too. I'm looking forward to or I should say hoping the day comes that no leash is necessary.

Thanks for the compliments. Cajun the boy sleeping on the left stuck the shoat in the picture. The other boy I had leg the shoat. He finally grabbed the back legs and I told him now hang on tight and drag him out in the open. I laughed so hard, he looked up at me and said your gonna leave me with him? I said yes you got it and walked off. I told the other one now you come stick it. The look on his face was priceless. He shook his head no. I got him to do it though. Our trainer asked after it was done if they were ready to do it again and they both said no way, that's too scary! It was funny stuff. I guarantee their friends in California are going to hear an exciting story.
