15  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Question about catch dog on: January 08, 2013, 08:12:40 pm
I got a catch dog that i really dont know his true age but looks and acts young. Ok my question is he knows what a bay is and has a heck of a grip when he catches but here lately i have bin workin him in a pen and he hesitates the first time i work him before he catches. Then after that he runs in there like a bat out of hall but misses most of the time. Will he grow out of this or when they start this will they keep doing it. When he does catch he pulls the hog down by folding his front legs and uses his body weight. The hog that ive bin workin him on is about 80lb so it shouldn't b to big for him.
16  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: fly ash on: January 08, 2013, 07:41:08 pm
I work at a power plant and if u mix the flyash and bottomash about 50/50 it will set up hard, but when u put it whare ever u want it you have to keep it watered and packed for it to set up, the only problem with it before it sets up is it has a lot of sulfer that will rake havick on metal, it will eat the frame off of a mule in about 2-3 years

I use a old portable shed with two windows and a window unit. I have old ceder sticks that my grandparents used and i put the sticks over the rafters. I use stainless wire that i have for my jerkey, it stretches from rafter to rafter as well and run the wire through the jerkey sticks. I usually make about 150-200 lb of sausage a year. If you need some advise give me a call. 979-966-3202, my name is shane
