Ive got a 2 year old blue pit that i have never been able to put weight on.  Hes prob 40lbs and his mom and dad were both 100lbs.  Ive tried it all and came up with hes just not a big dog.   Good luck with whatever you try.

Just because you are "WORMING" a dog doesnt mean the wormer kills the particular type of worm your dog has.  When in doubt go get a fecal sample done and see what worms the dog has....

Go to your local co-op or feed store. Here's a list of what you need.
Tape worm pills they will know what your talking about. Or pyrantel pomate that will get rid of the tapes if they got em. Ivermectin which will get rid of the rest of the worms the pyrantel doesn't get. Give em a dose of the ivomec its hard to overdose them on it but over a certain amount your just wasting wormer .1 ml per 10lbs. Wait a day or two and give em a dose of the pyrantel and usually its a three day cycle on it just to make sure you got the lower.intestinal tract clear.
Probiotics. Commonly called probios.
This is what your gonna need to put weight back on em chances are you've had to give a round or two of antibiotics from time to time which is fine but what most people don't know is it kills the good antibodies as well as the bad. This stuff will promote growth of good antibodies in the digestive system which help the dogs absorb what they eat. If the dogs heartworm positive the ivomec could kill em so be careful.

Use valbazen and it will kill them all, including tapes.  Mix ivomec into the valbazen as a heartworm preventative.

Ivomec can treat more than just heartworms. Pyrantle pomate treats a wide range of intestinal parasites, fenbendazole which is the main ingredient in the products that have been mentioned also treats a wide variety of intestinal parasites. Proziquantil is the more common treatment for killing almost all or all types of tapeworms which is usually in the pill for simply labeled tapeworm pills at the local feed store.

This is all over the place on info. Good intentions but some incorrect info. Pyrental Pomate ( Strongid), ( Nemex II ) is for Round Worms and Hook worms only. Pyrental Pomate will NOT kill Tape and Whip worms. Safeguard has the same ingredient as Panacur and that WILL kill Tape worms and Whip worms. As for Ivermectin yes it is for heart worms and it does usually keep Round and Hook worms away and can kill them when dosed right. Hope this helps.

I had a couple I bought that were wormed with panacur and ivermec at the fellow I bought them from.  The dogs didn't look wormy just wouldn't gain wait. I wormed them 3 days 1cc per 10 lbs with valbazen and ivermec  in a week looked like new dogs.  Should be able too pic it up at jeffers vet supply, or feed store.

Assumsing you have the dog wormed out,  this recipe usually packs on weight..

Satin Balls
10 lbs cheap hamburger (high fat %)
1 large box uncooked oatmeal (I generally use about 3/4 of the box)
12 raw eggs
1 15oz jar wheat germ
10 packages Knox unflavored gelatin
1 cup vegetable oil
1 cup salmon oil
1 and 1/4 cup unsulfured molasses
4 cups cooked brown rice

I roll these into about baseball size patties and freeze.
